Dr. Amelia Weinreb


Amelia Rosenberg Weinreb (PhD University of Pennsylvania) is a cultural anthropologist and Senior Lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin’s Schusterman Center for Jewish Studies. She teaches “Qualitative Research Methods” and “Gender and International Development” for Glocal and enjoys fostering a partnership between UT and Glocal through Global Virtual Exchanges and a Global Career Launch research internship program. Weinreb builds on her ethnographic projects in Israel, and her insider-outsider perspective as she lives, teaches, and raises a family between Austin and Jerusalem. Her publications have focused on Havana, Cuba, and the Negev Desert town of Mitzpe Ramon, Israel, and address citizen-state relationships, cultures of consumer desire, tourist contact zones, rebranding landscape, emotional geographies, and Israel Studies.
