The Glocal Program in International Development at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, offers a PhD track for outstanding candidates interested in advanced research on topics related to international and community development.
This track allows students to conduct independent, original research under the supervision of leading faculty members, within an interdisciplinary environment rooted in both academic excellence and real-world relevance.
Who Can Apply ?
We welcome applications from candidates who meet the following criteria:

Hold a research MA (with thesis) and an average grade of 90 or above.

Candidates with a non-research MA (no thesis) and an average of 90+ need to complete a thesis before applying for a PhD track (can be done seperately at the Hebrew University)

Have an academic background in international development , community development or a closely related field.Those without such a background may be required to complete relevant coursework from the Glocal Program.

Meet the eligibility criteria set by Authority of Research Students at Hebrew University.

Have an approved PhD supervisor from Hebrew University in addition to Glocal's involvement.
Important Notes

All PhD candidates must independently identify and secure approval from a senior faculty member at Hebrew University who is qualified to supervise doctoral students.

Admission to the PhD program is contingent on approval of both the supervisor and the proposed research topic.

Glocal does not currently offer scholarships for PhD studies. However, applicants may apply for competitive scholarships through the Faculty of Social Sciences.
