Esther Eshiet, from Nigeria, is a Social Worker and Career Catalyst, with core competencies in Career Counselling, Employability, and Entrepreneurship as well as Policy and Strategy. During her internship, Esther worked on the Impact Assessment & Evaluation of Gigawatt Global’s project pipeline in ten African countries. The anchor project of her internship was developing the company’s Impact Assessment metrics and embedding these in the organization’s project management processes. Esther also developed the company’s impact report and tools for a Baseline survey in Burundi. These tools can be revised and mainstreamed by the organization for use in other countries. Beyond the impact portfolio, Esther was also in charge of grant and award applications; by the end of her internship, she had submitted three successful applications. When asked about the course of her internship, Esther says: “I have been in Programmes Management and Strategy for most of my career, but I see the next decade of my career pivoting to the Impact and Sustainability measurements field. My internship at Gigawatt Global afforded me the opportunity to build my skills in this sector, and I intend to keep furthering myself.”
This image shows Esther taking Gigawatt Global’s new partners on a visit to Gigawatt Global’s 40MW Solar Field in Kibbutz Ketura. This solar field provides 100% of the daylight energy needs of Israel's Arava region, from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea. This visit allowed the partners to familiarize themselves with Gigawatt Global’s work. Gigawatt Global’s website proclaims the organization’s commitment to accelerating energy access and environmental sustainability through the installation of utility-scale solar fields which feed the national grid, thereby reducing the demand for and dependency on fossil fuels in Israel and Africa.
