Erez is from Jerusalem, Israel. He completed his Bachelor's degree in PPE [Philosophy, Political Science & Economics] in early 2019, and whilst completing his Glocal Master’s degree in International Development, he also is completing a Master’s degree in Public Policy, both at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Erez’s work with the ex-Haredi community began with his Glocal internship at Out for Change, an organization that aims to provide its beneficiaries with guidance and support as they embark on a new and independent path of life. His role within the organization included the planning and execution of an updated measurement and evaluation paradigm for the organization to better operate its programs, identify more easily the existing challenges for its target audience, and enhance the capacity of existing assets. Additionally, Erez created the organization's first written protocol of conduct and created an improved format for monthly updates of activities for its staff members. Erez states that the Glocal curriculum proved itself meaningful through the course of his internship, with special emphasis given to key features of qualitative research as well as practices and considerations relevant for the assembly of a measurement and evaluation plan of action. He says that “it was only within the internship that I came to realize how beneficial these skills are, and how important it is to use them wisely.” When asked about one important lesson he has taken with him from his time as an intern, Erez tells: “I know today, based on my personal experience, that there are organizations in the Israeli Third Sector which operate as a considerable force of change, and that the men and women who take part in such endeavors are capable people with a strong moral compass and a significant desire to make a difference.

The year 2020 will be most remembered by the worldwide spread of COVID-19 and the ways in which different societies and regimes have chosen to handle it. This picture depicts how Out for Change organized a small yoga practice for its beneficiaries while maintaining the rules of social distancing—choosing to adjust to the new reality rather than to shut down its activities completely. Through each and every one of the quarantines that the Israeli government has ordered, Out for Change was there for its target audience with fun and needed activities alike.
