Debora studied Architecture at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina, where she was also engaged as an associate professor in a course on social housing. As part of GLOCAL, Debora interned at the Tel Aviv Foundation, working closely with the Urban95 team and the Bernard Van Leer Foundation. The main theme of all the projects related to designing cities for early childhood, and was based on the following question: if you could experience the city from the height of 95 cm, what would you change? Debora took part in many workshops and carried out assessments in order to improve and support work already in progress.

Empowerment through participation | Deborah Rahmane

This picture is from a workshop organized by Urban95, together with an American organization called NACTO (National Association of City Transportation Officials), to think about future possibilities and design alternatives for the streets in Tel Aviv as the main public space in the city. The main questions were: “How can we make the street accessible to all?” and “How can all the sectors in the community be involved in the whole process?” The act of involving the community and creating space for public participation in the design process allows citizens to actually make decisions according to their needs— empowering them as active stakeholders and key actors in the system.
