Jumana is a Palestinian from Jerusalem. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in English Literature, with a minor in Translation, from Birzeit University. For her GLOCAL internship, Jumana interned with the Appleseeds Academy in Ramla, an Israeli nonprofit organization founded in 2000 with the aim of bridging Israel's growing Startup Nation with under-served communities in Israel's social and geographic periphery. Appleseeds promotes digital equality in Israel by developing and implementing programs in the areas of technology, employment, and life skills. During her four-month internship, Jumana took part in the Neta project—the only long-term youth program in Israel bringing together Jewish, Muslim, and Christian youth. Together, they are working to bridge the technological divide and create social mobility for themselves and their communities. As an intern, Jumana carried out an impact evaluation report to help assess how the project is helping the youth in the Arab sector, in the project's locations: Um al-Fahim, Hura, Altira, and Nazareth. The experience that Jumana has gained throughout her internship with youth empowerment, together with the academic knowledge that she gained in GLOCAL, has widened her horizons and provided her with practical and theoretical skills that she can share with the world.

Empowerment through technology | Jumana Natsheh

Technology has helped immensely in boosting access to information and has supported changes that have transformed our lives forever. The innovative potential of young people, combined with the power of technology, is already proving to be a powerful force on the road to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Appleseeds provides the "Neta project”, which aims to help children, youth and disadvantaged communities improve their lives through practical technological tools and services.
